Issue with 2000 300 Pro max

The tell tale on the port motor has gone weak. There is water running down the outside of the lower shroud at idle although water pressure gauge is showing 5 psi. Coming in from fishing the other day (at 4500 rpm) motor stumbled twice and there was a beep. I think it was trying to tell me overheat?

Can I have a leak in the water supply line and how tough is it to pull the lower shroud off these motors? Boat is in a lift.....

I took a video but it won't load.

Took upper cover off and started motor- no visible leaks at powerhead.

This is the same motor we replaced fuel pump on.... We have nicknamed port motor Clyde.....

    Thanks guys.

Check the diaphragm on your poppet. When it ruptures you will have a leak there but usually the motor wont warm up. If its an alien cowl you have to take the skirt off. Easy job.

Where is the poppet on these motors.

If you see where the diagram is there is no water leaking at the motor. I suspect the waterr supply line coming up from the LU.

How hard is the skirt to remove? 4 bolts? I am mechanically inclined so thats not the issue- hanging off the back of a Donzi 35 ZF is NOT EASY>

    Thanks-

My guess is that your powerhead base gasket is blown. #4 in first diagram. Those motors have been bad about that. Mine blew several. Even torque is the key.

So can I check the Poppet by taking the collar #48 off? Is it just some screws?

Yes it is 6 I believe 1/4-20 screws. Locate poppet cover, remove two more screws and check diaphragm. While your there replace it anyway and the two gaskets. JMO

Where do I find these? Finding a fuel pump was very tough!!!! Is this part common across several motors? Venemous if you have part #'s that would be great. Thanks
