    Seacast or CarbonBond Transom Compound

I need to replace some balsa core in my transom. Not sure how much till I get motor off.
No surface cracking or anything so I caught this in time.
Transom is 5 layers of 3/16 fiberglass with about 1/4 to 3/8 wide balsa core in between.
Has anyone used any of the pourable products, like Seacast or Carbon Bond?
Largest area may be 3/8 x 12 across and maybe 12 inches deep.

Seacast will not work with epoxy resins which I was planning on injecting to the balsa core that is still good but was never sealed.
Other options would be to use foam board or plywood but area is tight.

Plan C is using Smiths Layup and Laminating resin which they claim is wood based and doesn't dry in to a hard brick like most epoxies and mix in fiberglass and filler.
This would depend on how large the area is.

If there is water in the balsa remove that whole section. Your concerns about epoxy incompatibility with seacast suggests you are going to bodge a section of balsa that might have water intrusion or there would be no concern with the two products coming into contact. If you can isolate dry sections of balsa why bother to injext epoxy into them.

Finding the the source of the water and eliminating that is the first success. Im no pro. Just a diy restored a couple of boats person

If it's a low/medium horse power boat, just remove the rotten balsa, let dry, and fill with the sea cast material. It's not a perfect repair imo but will lengthen the service time of the boat. Some day it will have to be repaired correctly by the traditional method of removal and replacement of all the balsa. Easy way to remember about epoxy and poly. Epoxy sticks to everything, nothing sticks to epoxy but epoxy.
