    Need waxed, black gel coat

Looking for source for a quart of waxed, black gel for interior of Allison. I have looked at West, and several other websites and can't seem to get interior or waxed gel to show up. Thanks in advance for any help.

Found it. Didn't see any specs on amount of additive per given quantity of gelcoat. I appreciate the reply. They have brushable which is how the finish appears to have been applied in the areas of the boat already done. I am touching up where I have bonded in aluminum mounts for seat, tank, pumps and throttle.

The product you are looking for is commonly known as flowcoat.

FGCI actually has it listed as Sanding Aid. It is a 10% solution of wax. They just don't specify mixing ratios. I will look up flowcoat. They list a waxed gelcoat but only in a light blue color. The repair guys at Allison referred to it simply as interior gel and that it came with the waxed additive.

PS: I zoomed in on the picture of the container of Sanding Aid on the FGCI website and I can barely make out 1 oz. per quart. That was what I was needing. On another note I need to web the black with white spatter. I have heard some folks use paint with webbing solution. Some use paint at low pressure. I was talking to another very good restoration guy here and he used gelcoat to do his webbing. Comments?

fgci has a great tech support for their products. You want the finish coat to cure and not remain tacky so the sanding aid does that . You can web over the black with white gel,use webbing solution and the sanding aid if the white doesn't have wax. Spray the white ,low pressure or whatever the pattern is your trying to match. You would want to do the white before the black cures for good bond.Might take some practice, good luck, don't forget the mekp catalyst.

I am not familiar with those proprietary names. But when it comes to industry terminology, Interior Gel will be another name for Flowcoat. You can buy Flowcoat. It is usually formulated for brushing. The additive for making gelcoat into flowcoat is "Wax in Styrene". Addition rate is usually 5%. The added styrene will reduce the thixotropic properties, so it won't brush or roll on as thick. I haven't mentioned any of the "special proprietary additives"
patchaid, sanding aid or bandaid because I don't use them or know any other industry people who do. Actually I do use bandaids

Why all the fuse and bother and lots of questions just make you own black gel coat !Its only natural gel and add black pigment and a wax solution and if you use brushing natural gel is already thick enough add a little more pigment for interior use so will cover better !!simple !!!
For interior I always use a short hair mohair roller is quick easy coats a rough surface more evenly and no marks !!

Messing round with boats is fun !! the learning never stops ,even after more than 30 years there's always something new happening somewhere ! BUT somethings never change and some problems never go away and just keep reoccurring !!so moved into Composite Forensics , Now that something completely new !!
