Thread: T2x/tillotsen carb rebuild kits

I was just thinking if there was something out there with a smaller bore and same bolt pattern it would be worth a try (provided the compact bowls and parts from the other set fit). I've talked to a couple of people who have run t2x and t2's, and a common complaint is poor idle, low speed throttle response and extremely poor mileage, which can be a symptom of overcarburetion. It could be other things also, but the port heights between a 115 adi and t2x only appears to be around .010 difference.

Don't think they were thinking economy when , but a lean idle setting with enough timing and just enough rpm probably all you can do. Adequate fuel pressure also.

"The only thing that worked was a TIIX front half with the 6 individual V reed cages and I ran 6 stock 1500XS carbs. Was like a different motor".I copied this from a post years ago ,someone who was very successful in SJ , I'm not sure who , but I think you're on the right track down sizing the carb size to get better responce on the low end and less fuel usage .If you can find a Tillotsen carb with similar dimensions but smaller throats I think it would be much more responsive . The last part of the throttle with the TC3A3 carbs makes very little difference .

What size carbs are 1500XS? And what jets? Ex opens 3* sooner at 94* on the T2X, that adds as bit to fuel burn , weaker idle.

Xs engines use the same carbs as an adi in line but with different jetting. I'll check it out tomorrow. Btw I just degreed the t2x, and an adi 115. I'll post it up tomorrow

Then XS carbs have 0.082 jets ,the problem with these carbs is the mounting flang on the XS is diangle while the T2X is straight across so to use these carbs you need to make an addapter plate. So if you can find a similar force tillotsen carb it would simplify things .

Yes those are them, different number top to bottom but all TC. Man , that's a salty girl. Take the whole thing home. Should have two, might be off to the side and hidden. Look in the throat, one large stops and thin tube continues to top.

I didn't have anything with me to measure the carb bore size (unexpected trip for parts for another job) are they smaller than the the t2x carbs?
