What issues have you been having? It looks like you are running dual cable steering connected to the tiller arm, do you think the seastar hydraulic steering ram would be able to be connected to the tiller arm with the lift off cowl?

At the start of the season I was running a modified 150 inline on this boat and I got a crack in the water jacket by the exhaust ports [pic]. I had reringed the T2 block so I changed out the mid section and put it on. It was leaking into the exhaust chest so I pulled all the exhaust covers cleaned them up and annealed and straighten out the inner exhaust cover . Still leaking ,but into the dead space beside the exhaust passage for 1-3. redid the gasket between the outer exhaust cover and the block , appears to be okay now. Steering setup on the T-ll mid is difficult, as the original swivel pin has the steering arm cut off as they used wings and cable steering . The swivel pin is about an inch shorter than a short shaft pin. It's used on the 1250BP,and T-l . When you put the swivel pin in with the complete steering arm clearance gets real tight between the steering arm the lower cowl and the bottom carb. I had to notch out the cowl for space between the arm and the lower carb also a hole for the attaching bolt on the end of the steering arm . all steering parts have to go below the arm . My boat is also very confined in the motor well area so steering setup is a real problem. since you're using the stock mid that may give you an extra inch or so . The stock lower cowl would have to be cut out in front to make room for the bottom carb . If you have the stock T-llX lift off cowl it may be a lot easier . I'll have a look today to see if the stock mid will give you some extra room . I'm not familiar with any of the hydraulic steering systems but if it will work on a stock setup you may be okay .All my setups have limited tilt up mainly because of the motor well being too small.

Machinist bored the 2 cylinders that had issues, cleaned up with a .015 bore, so all good to go. Waiting on the crank to come back from being repaired. I also bought a late style 50 hp engine, it appears that I should be able to mate it up to my 15" mid and have integral power trim

I like the idea of 50 hp trim. Is it the newer style that has one ram? I would think ya could weld the notch in the piston as that part runs cooler than the crown. Keep the exhaust tunning with what ever combo is proper/crank exhaust chest/ tuna length.I ran a t2 housing back when and put a tube in it to equal the other tube.... it was loud. 18 foot jetmate....65 mph......took mom out fishing....cop came out to us and said he was trying to to catch me for awhile. Told me not to use the boat ever again.......

Dave s, I got the measurements from Norris for the length of the tuner and am going to try and duplicate the t2x tuner. As far as the clamp bracket, I was going to use the single ram integral unit until I came across a Merc classic 50, it uses a 3 ram power trim unit but the upper to lower engine mount bolts (off the swivel shaft) measures almost identical to the Merc 15" clamp, so it should work.

Thought the integral 3 ram trim units were all the same on the inlines...

That's what I thought as well. The local boneyard had the 40 hp 4 cylinder, which used an integral single ram, and I measured it myself and it was just about spot on. A guy I know had the 50 for sale, 3 ram integral. I had him measure the mount bolt spacing and it was identical (according to his measurements). It'll be here Sunday, I'm hoping I don't own a 50 hp merc for nothing!

3 ram won't work.... easily. Looked into that with my xs. You have to build a custom swivel bracket with about 3 more inches of set back so the lower yoke clears the pump housing. I'm pretty sure a Yamaha pro v 50 could be used but around here anyway the are like a unicorn farting gold dust.
