88 Hydrostream Valero YT Chine walk

    Hey guys,
I just bought a 88 Hydrostream Valero YT with a Mariner 200 hp carb motor. It goes into chine walk about 65 mph and I was thinking about getting a cleaver prop. My thinking is that a stern lifting prop might make it run a little flatter and be more stable. This is my first Hydrostream so I have very little experience driving one. Any help would be great.

Like Dave said, and I will add, more seat time. Ultimately, you control chine wok with the steering.

I had go to school. My boat was chinewalking because of the loose nut behind the wheel...ME!

If your boat is setup correctly then it's you, not the boat.

I had a Virage with almos the same bottom at the YT

    http://hydrostream.org/Specific%20Models/HullDesign.htm

It ran fastest with the propshaft not far off level with the pad (never measured) with no chinewalking. It would chinewalk with the engine lower.

Thanks for the info David. The link was very interesting. I don't have a nose cone on the lower unit but have one ordered from Bob's. Once installed I will be able to get the motor higher. I might also look into more set back (4" now) because the link said the YT's require a minimum of 6" of set back to run properly.
