Hooking up Livorsi Tach along side a Smartcraft Gauge (book has me confused)

I'm not home to look at my engine and I haven't installed my smartcraft gauge yet but I'm looking at the 300x service manual to plan the install and I'm confused:

Am I gonna need to buy 832948A1 and 84-86396A8 in order to hook up a tach so it won't interfere with my Smartcraft Gauge?



It says locate gray wire in the engine harness and connect gray wires together. What other gray wire is it referring to?
The illustration doesn't show where the other gray wire comes from. And where is the "tachometer plug" referred to in #4?



And before anyone says you don't need a tach use the smartcraft, I bought a tach cause the hole is there and I figured I may want the smartcraft on another screen and still have tach reading.
