    "fishing" boat question

My family/fishing rig is a 2002 proline 22 walk. Great boat for my area. I'm currently running a 2002 200 carb Mercury 2.5. bone stock. We just pulled a 200 opti off a boat we are repowering. I'm a big opti fan. My question is will I see any improvement swapping it onto my boat. I imagine I'll get a good bit more torque from the 3 liter. What the actual HP difference on the motors?

A newer 250 Opti will blow your mind. You'll wish you would've done I think years ago. Until it breaks anyway lol

Hung PLENTY of new 225 and 250 optis... Love em.

This 200 is free though. Just trying to decide if it's worth the effort or if I should flip it.

Oh I gotcha. I'm sure the 3.0L torque advantage would be very noticeable. And of course the fuel mileage would be twice.

I agree. I reckon it's an easy 1 hour swap so I might as well try it.

Plus, if your still running oil injection on your 2.5, the electroinc oil injection on the Opti is much better.

Just an update, got the motor on, cleaned all the injectors and replaced a bad air injector (thanks vnemous) boat runs good. Only getting 5300 with the sane 17 mirage that was on rhe 2.5. Top speed is up 1 mph but cruise is up 3 mph. 33 mph at 4200. I can take that.

    The extra torque is amazing.

Do you want to sell the 200 carb?
