    Roadside find

My dad was headed to work the other day and saw this on the side of the road out for trash pickup. He threw it in the back of his car to try to save it. It's a 1964 7.5hp Mercury. A lot of the electronics were in a basket next to it so we figure it'll need some work. It does turn over pretty freely though.Click image for larger version.

Those go forever other than the iron drive and shiftshaft. Makes it impossible to seal the gear case. Cool find!!

That's a pretty awesome find. I love those old swep-back "glide-angle design" Mercs. If the cowl is correct for it then it looks like a 1972-75.
If the block doesn't have any cracks or damage and the rotating assembly is good, then it should be easy to get it running.

WOW! Great find. Great little project if it's not siezed. Everything else is really pretty simple. If nothing else it's a fun project.

Not sure what the boat bailer is but I'm assuming a sort of bilge pump? If so that's pretty damn cool never knew something like that existed btw it didn't have any hose attached to it when I found it

There would be a short tube (hose connector) on the top of the mid starboard side. Gary
