    Down here they convert all kinds of boats to outboards. A thorough inspection is due.

    It will take some real horsepower to make that boat run. I had 800s in mine and it ran a best of 90. The newer step hulls were a big improvement.

    Right up until you decided to turn..... I saw a lot of the first gen step hulls hook at speed, not pretty.

    You HAVE to keep positive trim in them and stay on the power when turning for sure. I had a straight bottom an old straight bottom top gun with 600s and it was 12 mph slower then the new stepped version.

    Understood and the people running them knew what they were doing. I'm not talking recreational boaters, I'm talking factory sponsored APBA offshore teams. They eventually sorted it out but the first year or two was a comedy of errors and luckily no one got killed.

    I have had them spin in front of me in turns as well. They are definitely loose in comparison-the video of everyone standing in the cockpit at loto shows just how "on the edge they really are" Cats rule in my book...
