1977 Hydrostream Vector Motor Height ?

    Hi

I have a 1977 Vector with a 1986 Merc 135, 5.5" set back Power Lift manual jack plate, 14.25x25 Rapture prop, stock lower unit with no LWP.

Currently I have the prop shaft set 5" below the pad but I don't have a water pressure or temp gauge to monitor cooling water.

Just assembled the boat with motor and had it out for one run, was able to pull 65 MPH that seemed reasonably stable but I am no expert driver.

For the life of me I can't find any reference as to where to set the prop shaft in relationship with the Pad with a bone stock 135.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

usually you would start with the prop shaft even with the pad. Thats always a good starting point.
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

get some scoops or lwp. you will raise the motor up too hi and over heat it. the cost to get lwp vs the motor blowing is a 6 or 8 to 1 trade off. not worth it

Thanks folks, seems to be happy at 5" , at 4" I lose speed. Maybe because there were two adults in the boat while testing yesterday.
