What is a xr4 lower worth?

I have a crabber that needs a 150 lower. He found a xr4 ..... but I told him not good for crabbing. He needs to goooooo. Such a waste of a good case. What is it worth?

I could be wrong but I don't think the XR-4's are sought after at all only the later xr6.

But i I could be wrong.

xr4's had the small 4 1/4" case, and came on the 2.4 early fat blocks 89-early90's,for some reason everybody calls them xr6,only case i ever saw on an xr6 is a std. 2.5 4 3/4 case,i may be wrong

XR4 cases have a weaker driveshaft bearing setup and a few other things than the already weak XR6, and they're also shorter from the propshaft center line to the cav plate so you gotta watch running larger diameter props on it, they will hit. That's why they're not nearly as desirable even though they run the exact same on top end.

The small case XR6 was only on the first few year XR6s, and from what I've seen and read may have been on the later XR4s. Dead giveaway of an XR6 case is the Anti-Cavitation plate extends past where it bolts on to the rear of the mid whereas the XR4 case doesn't, the XR4 almost looks clipped off.

whats he want to do? The XR-4 is a 1.78 ratio which isn't good for heavy loads.

Does he want a 1.87 or a 2.0 geared lower?

I have a stock 2.0 geared XR-2 lower or a stock 200 1.87 case I might be willing to trade depending on the condition etc and where y'all are located(shipping long distances on lowers can be a mother)

i need and xr-6 case but can also use an XR-4 for cruising onnone of my boats that I can make use of the 1.78 gear.

You could get $300 for it if it is in good condition.

I think most are tore up and junked. If I did find one near me, it would be atleast $100 to ship and would probably get banged up during shipping. I will keep my eyes open.
