cool only shot trap a few times back in the 70s but like to go to beaverbrook in east bethel now and then to shoot some hand guns and ar and ak just for the fun of it. Very close to getting the motor running but its the steering keeping me from hitting the water.

    all looks very very nice.
is that cavitation plate extra wide or is just the photo making it look like that ?

your work is nice and the results look proper factory ...
nobody would believe those engines are 30 plus years old, they look more modern than some of the e-tecs.
that red lid is realy cool, and the shine is good too.

I will be showing these pics to a friend of mine who has a 1977 140 v4.
his motor looks as though it belonged to Noah 9jack plate on back of the Ark and he even he got it second-hand ha ha.
his motor runs good and is just crying out to be painted and freshened up with some nice decals .
pics of these might wake him up and get him motivated.

Well the steering was not a pain in the butt as I thought it was going to be.So now the boat is done and going to fire it up tomorrow. If all good its ready to hit the water don't expect any running problems as this motor has run for 45 min already with no issues.Few more pics.Dont know what took so long to get it ready already had this boat 8 days LOL.With the fairing on I have enough trim with full steering before it hits it,but with it on I cant tilt it up but it sits high enough on the trailer that's its not an issue.

It all looks such a very nice looking outfit.....

I am sure with your talent and skill you can stop the motor hitting the fairing.

Now here is just an idea that might get you thinking....
the front pins get changed out for tilting pin system. then fit a small pair of actuators to the rear of the fairing that work when the motor gets to a certain point of trim.
This then switches on actuators to raise the rear of the fairing just enough so that the motor cover will not hit the rear of the fairing.
When tilted back down or level the actuators lower the fairing back down .
to remove fairing the actuators fit on a small ball and socket type thing like on the hatchbacks of cars, simple to pull off when needed to remove the fairing.

now all you have to do is make this system and keep it all hidden and to your usual standards..

with your talent and engineering skills this is going to be a walk in the park
you just dont have the thinking cap on.

That is actually a good idea jack.Im not the one who installed the fairing or the rear compartment the fairing mounts to or I would have taken in account for the tilting of the motor.Depending on the launch how deep it is its not that big of a deal?

if it runs half as good as it looks then it will be a great ride.

would an inch spacer between jackplate and transom solve the tilt issue ? or would that upset the handling of the boat.

I could do that 1 0r 2 inch spacer but the more I go back the less tilt I have, but it tilts up high so maybe go back 2 inch.
