13 psi is low. Water pick up is too high out of the water at speed, impeller is worn out, plate is worn out, gauge is worn out, water tube leading to the gauge has a leak, any of the those.

My 90s 225 OMC frankenstein runs around 30 psi.

13 lbs is fine as long as your motor is staying cool. I run 12 lbs at speed and around 6 at idle. The mercury smartcraft goes into guardian only when its below 10psi at higher rpm. If you are looking for performance you want the case up high to reduce the drag and help the handling of some hulls.

Water pressure gauges(and conventional speedometers) are air pressure gauges. it is not intended for water to travel up the water pressure gauge tubing, to the gauge. Simply air pressure, forced up a very short distance by the water pressure at the pickup point, as speed increases, puts mild air pressure on a delicate diaphragm inside the gauge, moving the needle. if the pressure feed line(tubing) leaks at all, you are now supplying H2O directly to the diaphragm, which reduces the function of the gauge, not to mention filling your boat with water. If in saltwater, salt crystals will then make the tubing & gauge inaccurate into the future. Throw the parts away. If freshwater, gently clearing the line and gauge will most of the time save the combination.

ok no water leaking anywhere that i can see, im in fresh water but i dont know the history of my boat it might have seen salt water befroe but im not sure. the small tubing is brand new. I see lots of water coming out the pisser hose so i cant see the water impeller worn out im going to try and find a temp guage for it

Disconnect the pisser and run the hose directly to the gauge.....you may have more pressure than you think. I did the same as you on my old 140 and gained pressure with the pisser disconnected. Gary

when using a T-fitting youl never get the right reading, at best you could get half but no chance of it being right.

just take the t off and connect tube direct to the fitting on the motor, thats the only way to get the correct reading.

pressure will always take the easiest route out !!!
