Still the most interesting OMC V6 ever..the first very powerful 2 liter looper Cees Van Der Velden won the ON World Title with 1975 in Cardiff.
Yes, I raced one in Milan, Italy 1978.
This was also the first time for the new OMC racing mid section/gearcase.
The Merc boys was not happy..Renato Molinari and Bob Hering was far behind.
Pictures of the OMC 2 liter looper block here.http://svera.se/blogg/pictures-of-th...t-race-engine/

01-02-2018, 09:29 PM #1609I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Funny Instigator, I saw those and was guessing that it was some kind of a drag device.

This is from Chasewater 1978. Renato Molinari was leading the OZ class race with his new #20 Molinari/Evinrude CCC 3 liter looper with fuel injection when something went wrong with his brakes. A very bad crash and Renato was one lucky man walking away from this crash.
If I remember right this was the last race Renato used brakes..!!

1976 Amsterdam 3hr race this was the time line where both factories were discussing up to 2 litres or above engine sizes. At the Amsterdam race OMC had the 2.5 crossflow engine now running good Alf Bullen ran one and i think Hans Pelster ran one and i do know Barry Woods and Jimbo were both running the 2.3 looper engines.Velden had just gone back to Mercury and the next race in the UK was at Fairford he came over with a 2.4 Mercury outfit and beat Peter Thorneyworks lap record which he held with a 2.0litre crossflow engine.Peter was pretty pissed with this so he checked with Brugge both of the 2.3 looper engines had been left over there so off he went and had one of these engines fitted for the next national event at Fairford and retook the lap record.

Wow..Thanks I missed that completely.
I was at the OMC factory before the Amsterdam race invited by Paul Kalb..we did not get along and I took my SE class Clerici from Sweden to race in Amsterdam instead of the bad OE factory boat Paul Kalb offered me to drive.
I remember Alf Bullen driving extremely hard in his #6 OZ class Burgess/Johnson V6 RS at the last hour of Amsterdam. Was watching from the pit because my SE boat broke.
After Amsterdam we went back to OMC in Brugge/Bruges and Paul Kalb gave us a new better Burgess to rig for Paris 6 Hours. I did not pay attention to all the stuff going on with the V6 engines at OMC Brygge/Bruges at that time. Was biting my tongue because of Paul Kalb..
( I can tell it now..but I was so upset with the way Paul was running the OMC factory OE boats I was already planning for Volvo Penta/Konig OE class racing 1977. Roger Jenkins did the same thing..he left OMC OE class racing also because of Paul Kalb..
The link below is more about the #47 OE class Burgess/Johnson RS me and Bo Nilsson rigged and raced in Paris 6 Hours 1976. My last race for Paul Kalb.

Cees Van der Veldin in his shop. My guess is 1979 or 1980.
