    checkmate pulsare 2000 jackplate question

    I have a 06 Pulsare 2000 with a 225 Optimax, 13.5" of setback spinning a 25tempest prop.

I have been fiddling around with the jack plate height, and I'm just wondering where everyone else runs there's.

I had it at 4" below the pad and then moved it to 2 7/8" below the pad. I got around 70-72mph. I would think I should be in the mid 70s with this boat.

For maximum speed, Checkmate 20-2100 Pulsares like the prop centerline even with pad or 1" above the pad with that much setback.

Probably can't run that high unless he has low water pickups. Run it about 2.5" below if you have a stock case and try a 26 Trophy prop. Running the case high only seems to work once you get over 80 mph, which you won't do with a 225. Also, setback of up to 16" will help speed also.

Randy is right about the prop. A Trophy Plus 26, maybe even a 27 will improve top end speed and handling of the boat. You will need low water pickups to go higher on your motor height. If your nosecone has water pickups, you can tap and plug the top three holes on the "gills" of your case to prevent sucking air. You should be seeing speeds in the 75-77 speed range once setup correctly. Your 13.5" of setback is right on the money without sacrificing lower speed handling.

thanks guys, can someone explain the low water pickup better to me. I current have the four holes on the back of the gear case. I know on a bravo drive this is considered a low water pickup. I'm assuming its different on an outboard.

Interesting, So what your saying is; in this picture the four holes on the back end of the nosecone is NOT considered a low water pickup
