Barney made several changes to the Action version of this boat. I have driven both and the Action is both faster and easier to drive. Remember that we were building boats to race not just for making top speed flybys.

I remember them fondly. You are right Jim, the best choice for an in-line, without a doubt.

Not many Louis Collins's out there ... 80+ isn't very likely

    Hi,
In 1980, Barry Bourke set an APBA Australian and New South Wales record of 139.64 KPH OR 86.76 MPH in his 15 foot "decked in" Dancraft. His boat was powered by a 1500XS, of course.

    See http://www.hotboatdatabase.com/sites...ule%20Book.pdf
Scroll down to page 127 and see 2000cc Mono Hull (outboard)

Within twelve months, Barry managed to bump his own record up to all but 88 MPH, I seem to recall.
Some tunnels with 1500XS's were battling to keep up with him on the race circuit.

John I remember when you put this beautiful rig up for sale and someone tried to flame you for the 115 decals trying to say it wasn't a J block motor ...... and people wonder why the good guys stop posting on here.

    123HP

I was thinking the last DIS 115s were 140 powerheads
I had a 88 Mariner and it would really run
I talked with an ex racer once and he said the later 115s had more mid range.
He said on a short course it would pull harder through the turns and out run XSs

Thanks, I still have it. Hasn't seen water since 2014. No time. It is a real J 1500, all original, only decals changed (not by me, by original owner, because boat is rated for 120hp and he didn't want trouble on his home lake). I have another set of 1500 decals for it.
