    8" setback question

I just purchases a 2006 Checkmate Pulsare 2000 with a 5.5inch manuel jackplate. I am getting ready to purchase a bobs 8" fixed setback bracket. My question is will I need to buy longer steering cables, or will the stock length ones work.

I'm having an issue with my steering where it gets very tight it certain spots. I have narrowed it down to the cables, so before I go out and purchase new stock length cables, I wanna make sure they will fit with the 8" bracket. Also what is the best brand of cables to buy if so.

Look into getting a hydraulic system-you can order hoses any length needed. You will be much happier in the end and you can also add a power steering assist pump if its within your budget (makes steering effortless).

With only 2.5 " difference u wont think so, but u say your cables are "tight" in certain spots? Im assuming u have dual cable, could they be corroded in certain spots when turning to cause this? Look up T rex on here, he made a lubricating system for lubricating steering cables. I made one and it works great, saves on buying new cables

Thanks for the advice guys, I understand the effects of hydraulic steering, but at this time I really just want to get the boat wet and see how it runs.

hey daytrader I looked up Trex and couldn't find any steering cable info. Can you send me the link?
