150 Mariner Mag III lower unit oil seal
I'm in the middle of replacing the water pump on my 1994 150HP Mag III. I removed the pump base assembly and found that the only seal between top bearing and water pump is the seal in the pump base. After some research, I discovered that there SHOULD be a second seal (in addition to the one that's in the pump base) that isolates the lower unit from the water pump. It looks like the Mercury P/N is either 89238 or 16977.
Am I on the right track here? Does anyone know the correct part number?
This is what I am basing my knowledge on (and I don't have much of that):
Parts numbers 33 & 34 . . .

You are correct there should be 2 seals facing opposite. One keeps water above the oil and the other keeps oil below the water. As far as part numbers go any dealer should be able to tell you that by the serial number. Good luck.

So, I ran to my local Merc dealer . . . who was less than helpful. "Sure, we can get you whatever part you want! Just tell me what to order." the guy said. I don't want any part; I want the RIGHT part. It's so friggin hard to find people who give a damn anymore.

They are just like most people. Some have a clue while some don't. There are dealers here (on this site) that would certainly know what you need or you could contact Pro Marine and they could sell you a complete seal kit as I don't see just the seals being listed separately.

here are the 2 seals that you need #21 and #22. Includes the Merc #s and the aftermarkets
I tried to order the 18-2013 from PRO Marine and they only sell it in a kit. They sell the 18-2014 separately, but not the 18-2013. Go figure?!?!?!
I did some searching and it looks like SKF 8624 seal is the same. A lot cheaper, especially if you buy several.
