Hi all,

I am very sorry for the slow progress on getting the fifth installment up of this amazing photo archive scanned and posted. Unfortunately, the way it goes with a bad case of pneumonia is that it can take many months to fully recover, and since introduction to that adventure, I'm still not 100% recovered.

But I've been doing fairly well and I'm confident that I will have batch five scanned and posted this week.

This archive is so massive, and I'm still so excited about digitizing all of these incredible historical images. It can be a slow process to scan them though, since I very carefully dust and clean each photo. They've been stored for decades and although most are in fairly good condition, south Florida is a very hospitable envireonment for photographs and all of the heat and humidity over the decades made many of these images very frail.

Check back this week for the next batch though and I have many more to go.

This must be a lot harder to do than it looks. I think Fujimo has his stuff already scanned so he can post stuff quickly. Most of my small stash of photos are scans of original pictures and some times it takes several tries to get an acceptable result.

Or a half an hour per picture if there is a color, contrast or descreening problem with Photoshop or similar software. Its not the same as photocopying a page of text.

I'm sure Greg has his hands full--he has hundreds of images that have been stored for decades in the heat and humidity of Florida

I left South Florida 35 years ago--luckily I stored boxes of 'memorabilia' in a closet downstairs--cool (cold?) dry and DARK--high in the Colorado Rockies--

When I started digging through these boxes a few years ago--they were nearly perfect!! I still have boxes that haven't been opened--

Here is a Kodachrome by Sal Magueri--taken 45 years ago!!

No Photoshop--no color correction--Scanned on my cheap HP Scanner---
