New Mercury Verado Helm getting hot and making hissing sound ...

Can someone give me advice why this new helm is getting real hot and making a hissing noise ? It's a not a long run , not more than 10ft ... I read that it might need a
A cooler ? The question is its less than month old and now is the helm damaged ?
    Thanks

Should not be getting too hot and does not need a cooler. Look for restrictions making the pump work hard. Kinks in the hoses etc. Assuming you are using the right oil and is filled and properly bled.

Helm mounted in the console? They don't like short runs of hose. They actually say to run long hoses even if not needed to help cool the fluid. Coil them up somewhere, added volume and some cooling effect.

Well ill one we paid a dealer to install , so it was not our fault of they installed not enough line to dissipate the heat ! Second of these lines are sold by Mercury but are sold in short lengths , should they not have technical note telling the tech the minimum requirements for hose runs ?
The noise is not as loud when cold but as it heats up , the noise gets louder for sure...
I feel that either the oil is foaming with heat or there is damage to the helm ? But maybe the oil is now broken down because of the excess heat ? Just asking for advice , I do have a guy that has access to Mercury tech line .... Thanks

It's one those you can but you shouldn't. I won't install short lines from the helm to the pump. I *think* they may have released a service bulletin but I do know it was discussed at school in the verado class. It's just the return that needs to be longer.

If it was purchased and installed by a dealer its covered under warranty. Take it in. You can also call Mercury's consumer line. They are very helpful.
