    O.E.M. vs Sierra

At work, I'm always at odds with the powers that be over what parts to use. I always go O.E.M when I'm ordering, but sometimes someone else orders and we get aftermarket. Here is a comparison of the tilt pin e-clips for and Alpha drive.

I think I'll use the SS O.E.M. part.....

I know that sometimes there is no choice but to order Sierrra parts, which I think have gotten pretty good. But as a general rule, I always order O.E.M. as a first choice. But it seems like more and more common parts for Mercury engines made in the 80s are becoming NLA, which of course leaves no alternative but to go with Sierra or other aftermarket parts.

FYI those sierra clips are stainless, they just have a anodizing coating for identification purposes should they need to warranty a broken clip... they are actually made along side the merc E clips in the same mill
