Merc 280 midsection/water pump question.
I recently bought a 280 mid section with a single ram to use with my worked 175 2.5l engine. This mid section has a 3/4" water tube and my original lower unit/water pump has a water pump housing for a smaller diameter tube. What water pump housing do I need to get in order for this thing to work?? New to performance outboard engines.. thanks!

Would anyone happen to have the part number? I Also read you can modify the housing to a 3/4". anyone have any info on that?

Yes simple to cut off the 1/2" housing but you still need the sleeve and grommet for the 3/4" tube
23-847685 sleeve
26-88397 grommet
The one on the left is a 1/2, right 3/4 and adapter (sleeve) for 3/4" tube
And if you modify your housing, don't forget to take out the 1/2" grommet
Oops, and drill out the housing to 3/4"
is gone
