The Grand Sport personally works for me but bigger is better these days because of all the wake boats out on the lakes in prime time!! Mine is OK I can only do 50 threw wake boat wakes with short blasts until the next wakes to 80 off and on. To risky with lots of boats to go faster and not be able to slow down fast enough. a 24 should be able to cruse at 60 over wake boat wakes because of the greater span of the hull and weight advantage. Heavier is better to a point in bigger water. Cut more instead of go over high on top.

Totally agree, I get beat up pretty good running the bay on a weekend by me. I am looking to go 24-30 and heavy not to get beat up. The checkmate is a good weekday boat when it is not busy on the water. I had a 21 superboat also years ago and it was better but still 21 is not that big in rough water. If you run in 2-3 chop it will get painful.....doesn't take long for the wife and kids to lose interest. I had a 28 Active thunder on a rough day would get beat up.

to me 2-3' is a blast if no kids in the boat..... Kids in the boat you will make them hate boating if you let it eat.
PS if you can find one the Kryptonite loves this kind of water will blast over 60 through it all day.
Has a small cuddy, I even have a little porta pot for the girls. Has a bed two small bench seats too. Plenty of room for shade and getting out of rain/thurnderstorm

Op said family boat. Not many families want to jump waves. Best advise is get 2 boats, one for family and one to have your fun. I am working on the family boat now. I have gone through so many boats trying to please everyone...

Not an outboard but my 23 Ultra Shadow is a cat deck and seats 10 with a 496HO supplying plenty of power and speed. Had a 24 prop on it for years to pull the kids. They're all grown up now and a change of props has made it even faster.
