24 Skater with a single 400.. anybody yet?

I have a 24 Skater with twin '05 300X's and thought about going to a single 400 4 stroke for obvious reasons. Less weight, efficiency, new engine, something different. Lets hear what you all have to say

I might be interested in your X motors- The 400 seems to work well when its loaded down from I have seen. I think you would need to move as much rigging to the rear as possible and get something for a center pod to protect the midsection and case.

IMO this would be the boat to try it on.

I think with a hydraulic jackplate the 400r would be a great option for the 24.

I think a single 400R on the 24 would be a nice combo. F14, how was the acceleration on your single 300 24?

This is all good discussion as we all realize that 4 stroke is here to stay. The weight difference has got to be an advantage with COG and overall handling..eventually. I think jperog mentioned the load factor with regards to prop pitch being an advantage for a heavier cat. Some of you may disagree with his whole thought but thinking outside the box on set up is important.

My 24 now has a 2016 300XS with DBR level 1.1. The performance is identical to when it had the 300X on it, but I picked up 3 times the fuel economy and it has a full warrenty. Acceleration is not like twins, but she has no problems getting on plane, getting through the hop and up to 90 fairly quickly. The last 5 MPH takes a bit, maybe 10-15 seconds.

At 1 time I was super close to trying to buy the single 24 skater that you have. It was stored right down the street from me in NC. Super nice boat! And a fun one to mess around to get max performance. The 300x are awesome mtrs but hard on you at the pump/oil. Got to believe this is really an economical rocket, fun cruising machine. I know mine is! GLWS!
