Lower unit paint peeling and pitting
I own a 2000 bass cat jaguar. After blowing out the lower unit I replaced it with the new omc lower. I started having the paint peel off and it has started pitting into the aluminium. Anyone have any clues as to how I can stop this from happening? (My theory is that it is a cavitation burn coming off the water inlets...tried smoothing them out but it is continuing to peel and pit.)

Maybe have to streamline the water inlets, are they plastic ? might have to give them a sharp edge like the trailing edge of a propeller ?
just a thought.

I would try polishing that area to a mirror finish and then see what happens,
