Yeah , I live at the 24th latitude N. and know all to well about ridiculous heat . Was working on a project the other day and came inside to re-fill my tea , the weather channel said the heat index was 119 degrees . A friend that helped me for a few hours went home and was sick for the next 3 days . stay safe . capt bart

Ha! Downriggers! Isn't that a big boat item? lol. I just went and looked at the transom and it looks fantastic. I had seen a video of a guy that had done Arjay and had it pull back from the transom skin creating a small crevasse around the edge. I'm not sure if he had put in fresh glass but back when I did the nidacore transom they advised me to grind if possible and lay up a fresh layer of chop strand mat or at a minimum a fresh coat of resin. I because I built the cavity for this Allison transom I was able to lay up all new glass and I actually used some 1708 and csm to help with strength and bonding. I didn't have any separation and the transom look exactly like it did when I left it last night. It's just a bit tacky to the touch but currently curing out in 30mph wind and 91 degree heat. I will give it a few days to cure out and that will give me a chance to clean my shop up and hopefully Darris responds soon on my spohnson idea so I can make a final decision on spohnson design. I have the outer skins of some spohnsons I laid up over a Rubbermaid storage box my wife was throughing out and they look good and match the wall angle perfectly on the hull lol.

Its not quite that hot here but down around Falcon Lake in Zapata TX back in my oil field days it would get that hot. We would work with wet rags under our hard hats and you had to keep tools in the shade because leaving them out in the sun you couldn't grab them and work even with gloves on. Working ranch work down here we would work sun up until about 11:00am then go inside and not start work again until 4-5pm and work until dark to avoid the heat of the day.

Yeah , most people don't understand the reasoning behind the Mexican ''siesta'' . They think that they take a break in the middle of the day because they are lazy . That is not even close . They take a break in the middle of the day because they are smart . It does make for a longer day , but working in the heat of the middle of the day will kill you . The same reasoning applies to why they eat their biggest meal of the day so late in the evening . You have to adjust to your environment if you want to survive .

Chingadera - I just came into the house to see what's up with the wind blowin' like crazy this afternoon and it looks like you might have to bring your dogs inside sometime next week . I'm damn sure not looking forward to another hurricane season .

My wife mentioned a storm trying to come up this way (I never watch the news because it makes me feel like a bipolar or something) Man I hope wherever it goes people stay safe! Next week weather prediction is lit up with rain chances. They say this year is predicted to be a busy season but half the time they can't predict where the storms are even headed so I don't know what to believe. Stay safe and stay dry man. Thanks for the heads up.

Messing round with boats is fun !! the learning never stops ,even after more than 30 years there's always something new happening somewhere ! BUT somethings never change and some problems never go away and just keep reoccurring !!so moved into Composite Forensics , Now that something completely new !!
