260 amp draw
What is the normal draw of a 260 system just sitting on the trailer? Mine seems to draw the battery down in 3/5 days.Battery is good.CDI box, everything works as it should.

Fuel pump draws from what I know 10 - 12 amps of a 16 amp system . I charge battery fully if possible everyday if on a weekend trip where you are using it everyday and that is without a sound system . With a system you need 2 batteries . I'm using 1000 CCA lead acid , 450 hours on the boat , 3 batteries .

Thanks Tom,I'm talking about boat sitting on the trailer no key in the switch. Is it normal for the ECU to draw battery power? My Brucato sits for weeks at a time with no issues

Should be zero draw. disconnect one side of your battery, put a volt meter between the battery and disconnected cable, start pulling fuses until the voltage drops below 2 volts.

Got no fuses.Only two draws on the battery.Battery to starter solinoid, and fuel pump.Going to test tomorrow to find out how much draw there is,but it must be a fair amount to pull a battery down that quick.Seems I recall that Merc ECUs draw just sitting.I know that when you hook up a fresh battery there is always a slight spark when you first touch the post.

An ecu can kill a battery in short order. I killed 800 dollars in lithium batteries last year because I forgot to turn my Perko off after a race for a week. Drained them down to 7 volts and killed them. It depends how it's wired at the engine. Whether it gets power all the time or only when the key switch is on

Put a digital volt/amp meter on and see what U have? I heard years ago they must have a battery disconnect switch at least for the engine electronics.

It should draw zero if you have a battery shut off switch like most everyone uses.

The ecu draws. You have to disconnect the battery or the ecu.

That's 560ma and in the auto world normal draw would usually be under 50ma.

If you have an EFI you need a battery switch, my Bridgeport will kill a battery in 5 days. My Pro Max takes about 10, some Mercruiser ECU'S will kill a battery within a week as well. Any of our customers with a EFI Merc get battery switches installed, 16 amp system will always need to be charged at the end of a long day. Then shut off the switch and good to go next time.
