Thread: How To Properly Beach Your Boat

Even if I didn't care about scratching my hull up, parking like that would assure my boat ended up on the bottom in no time flat. One good wave is all it would take to send it to Davy Jones' locker. lol

All you guys saying you wouldn't do this either wouldn't boat out here or you'd give up on your "tie it off and anchor out" idea after about 2 weekends. That's a PITA..I know because I tried it when I first got my STV. While it doesn't sound good, it doesn't do the damage you guys think. Greg wouldn't even put his boat in the water here, so no worries there.
Even new boats go on the beaches, and when those beaches are made from flooded canyons/mountains, guess what's going to be on the beach? Rocks. It is what it is.Keith-

When the wake boards are out or I am in the big river, I will anchor even it is sand. I am not lazy when it comes to taking care of my boat, no matter the PITA.

IF there is boats i would not beach on a shore like that. If there s Zero boats or wakes I do. BUT i jump out motor off and up glide in stop the boat before she touches. Then i go to the bow lift the bow {up} walk her up a little ways only for security then rest her down gently. No scratches no scraping. Then when I leave i lift the bow slow and gently push her into good water. Turn her around stern to shore push off and gone climb on and go. Buy no means would i ever in a million years run her up on the shore with me in the boat sand or not.. If i cant do that I wont {rest} her on the beach. In this pic for the thread he may have only rested her for a picture. i cant see him RUNNING her up on that!! Its like GLASS behind the boat so no rocking motion or any thing in the pick. And its not like its full of big boulders. My guess is because there was no boats he lifted her up then rested her down gently. Lets hope so any way.

At least half the lakes I boat on in North TX are reservoirs with rock shoreline at least 3/4 of the way around them.
If you can't figure out an efficient way to anchor the boat in that pic (even if it was rocks, which it isn't) maybe you should just give up and buy a pontoon. LOL> Stainless steel Merc cowling plates - $110 shipped TYD - LINK <

The advertisement says that that the boat is stored indoors. So the top can be expected to be in good shape...

The trick is to come in hot and shut it down right before you get to shore. Your following wave will push you up on the beach nicely and save your back from all that lifting and pulling.

You guys would have been dying looking at the MTI's, Skaters, DCB's, Outer Limits, etc, on those beaches this weekend at Desert Storm. LOL
