On carbed and laser style injection they improve midrange punch by straightening intake tract going into reeds/crankcase. Not much change in top end, but well worth it for improved acceleration. Doesn't seem to help horn style motas as much due tract already pretty straight. Install them on all motas I build.

Something I've always wondered why donallmthe marine intake spacers I see built are being made of aluminum and all the ones I ran on efi drag cars were made from phenolic material?

Does anyone one make a phenolic intake spacer for a carb 2.4 or 5?

maybe I'll try and buy a slab of phenolic and cut it out to test it.

T-Rex has gotten me my phenolic spacers. Not sure where he was getting them from or if he was making them. I will check with him for ya when I get a chance. Only problem I had with the phenolic was the reed block loosened up when it was new due to the spacer being soft and the cage embedded in it slightly. I'm thinking of running an aluminum and phenolic together on new motor with the reeds attached to the aluminum one. Just another idea I have. Mike told me to put as much spacer as your cowl will allow, there's a reason the rules won't allow anything more than a 2 inch spacer lol. I love that mans way of thinking!

Rex was cutting his own. That's where I got mine.

For my 200 and 225 they have both gained a decent mid range punch. The 200 I had was highly ported and worked over for a light boat. It just didn't have the umph to pop my heavier boat out of the water. Adding the spacer along with decking the front of the block helped a lot with the launch.

Yeah I want one for our bass boat to see if it will help pull a taller prop down low and mid.

Did you have a spacer on when we raced at winter nats? This is Rob with the bullet

Hey Rob, no I didn't have it on then. I had just got that one running after swapping everything over from the old block that cracked. I need to put it back on. Once I get all this electrical stuff fixed it'll go back on.

Cool deal I've fought a mountain of electrical issues last year with it. Had to swap to 16amp when racing and back to 40 when fishing , kept frying the 40amp regs and stators turning over 8500

we're gonna throw one on the shadow here pretty shortly but I probublay won't put one on the bullet. I think it would make the motor illegal for the BASS tournies I fish, but other wise I would like to try one on their too

What tournaments you fish that would inspect for a spacer? I've only known of hp rating not exceeding boat ratings. I'd be in trouble in those tourneys! The guys around here never even look at motor or ask about motor. Just all the safety stuff, legal things, and inspect the boat thoroughly.

B.A.S.S. Federation nation and open series.

It has to be a factory motor in those events with no aftermarket parts.

I have to swap heads and ecu when i fish those but intake would be too much trouble.

I did not know they stated had to be stock. I have considered fishing the Federation here, but better stay away from that lol! Does stock appearance count? Lol
