Water sucking 300xs

Yesterday I did my first test with my hydrostream virage and new engine (300xs). Runs really good but when I look my movies back it looks like it sucks some water trough my air intake. First I did some research and read they make alien cowling to fix this problem. But is this the only way? And how bad is it for the engine ? Where comes the water? Will it go trough the injectors inside the block Is it just trough the compressor our just the electric components? Read something about tps sensor faillure.

Thanks I hope there is a easy way to fix it.

Boat and engine look great. I didn't see a lot of spray, but did see some mist from the exhaust. Run the boat some and pop the cover and see what amount, and where the water is. You can point the compressor intake forward also for less mist going into it.

Thanks love this boat the next day a take of my cowl and the foam inside was still wet from forward to aft by the intake. So now I take al the foam out. Thats why I want to know how bad is it to get some mist inside ofcourse it is not good but before I had a 250xs and blown that one so thats why I am afraid for my new one. Don't want to kill my second engine.

Dave bush sells a cover that you mount on the front of your cowl. you cut a hole in front of cowl. then mount cover plate spaced out about 1/4 inch. seal rear opening with spray foam to keep water out. the only down side is you now hear the compressor and reed valve noise. just above idle it makes a lot of noise. sounds great cruising and wide open throttle.

Thanks for your reply is it possible on a stock engine? I read you have to send your ecu because the extra air.

I switched to Nass cowls two sets of engines ago because of the injection issue. I never changed the ecm, and they run great. The 2.5 style pan on the cowl front with a big hole behind it will fix it also.

Thanks for your reply that is info I need! I read some cheap way to fix this problem with a hose into the waterdump hole in the aft of the engine, because the water splash on the wingplate. Full speed i got no roostertail at all only the waterdump. If this hose don't help I will think about a Nass Cowl.
Somebody knows how bad this water is for my engine? Can I kill it during testing our only chance of tps faillure?

Just want to show my solution to prefent the water ingestion issue. Works fine to me no longer need to buy a new alien cowling. I just put a pipe in the waterdump fixed it with kit and put a hose on it.
