Three Lakes Shootout 10th Year Anniversary June 23rd & 24th Don't Miss It

Three Lakes Shootout 10th Year Anniversary June 23rd & 24th Hard to believe, but it is true. The planning has been ongoing, we do have some minor changes in the making, but we think this year will be the biggest and the best. The ice went our just a couple days ago, followed by 70 degrees, followed by 6" of fresh white stuff, but I think we are past the worst of the winter. We were contemplating limiting the number of racers, but have been able to expand our RACE BOAT PARKING, so there is NO LIMIT to NUMBER OF BOATS REGISTERED. (Last year we had a record 92) The rules and schedule will remain essentially the same and we are looking for a wonderful 10th year Shootout celebration.

Those of you who want to participate in the Annual Tour of the Lakes on Friday, June 23rd can also plan on registering and having an early lunch under the big tent on Friday at Sunset Grill this year with the Tour beginning from there at 2 PM sharp. We will be eating, registering & launching from Anchor Marine / Sunset Grill because Pine Isle remains closed. As always, we'll pull the boats for the static display that begins at Bonnie's Lakeside at 5 PM. The registration booth will be open at Bonnies as well. Anyone registering on Friday night, gets a free dinner & cocktail. Anyone wishing to store their boats overnight, locked indoors at Anchor Marine (free of charge) must drop your boat at Anchor Marine NO LATER THAN 9 PM.

    Saturday
morning, June 24th, the racing fun begins at 11 AM following the usual drivers safety briefing at 10:30 sharp. Racing will continue until 5 PM (with a couple of breaks in the action) as in year's past followed by the Award's Ceremony in the Big Tent at 5:30. The biggest change for this year is the fact that this year's Shootout is raising funds for the national AmVets Organization. AmVets supports multiple veteran causes and organizations, all for helping those who keep our nation safe. We are pleased to be able to help such a worthy cause.

We hope to see you there and welcome all of you back to the Northwoods of Wisconsin for what is often referred to as one of the best organized and fun boating events in the country. We will do our level best to keep YOU HAPPY so that you will come & visit in late June! All the best from the Shootout to you!

    Chairman, ThreeLakesJim

What a great event. For those who haven't attended yet. This is the best event of it's kind anywhere. The event staff is amazing. They work tirelessly to put a great multi-day event together for everyone to enjoy. Three Lakes is spectacular boating water. There is actually around 20 lakes all connected with another 8 in the Eagle River chain accessible by a boat hoist. Together, it is the largest chain of freshwater lake in the world according to wikipedia.

Hope to see many of you there and get some more great pictures. Here are a few from last year. There will be many more posted from last year and prior years in order to help promote this event.

Thanks to Jim and the others for finding a great charity to work with. Event proceeds go to support Veterans. Great fun boating and plenty of $$$ to support Veterans that give us the freedom to do this in the first place.

    Enjoy:

Three Lakes Shootout Event Update As of June 4th

Three Lakes Shootout Event Update As of June 4th

I wanted to take the time to update everyone on several things about this year's event.

First, (especially for our returning racers), Pine Isle is re-opening on or about June 10th with new owners. Because this is "new news" we had already arranged for lunch to be available for our racers under the Big Tent at Sunset Grill before the Tour of the Lakes begins from Sunset Grill/Anchor Marine on Friday, June 23rd at 2 PM sharp. Having Pine Isle open adds another dimension to the fun while you are visiting our chain of lakes.

Below are this year's classes spelled out with our rules. I have received several inquiries from racers that asked for clarification of seating as part of the decision regarding which class your boat falls into. Specifically, any boat with a single seat up-front and a bench in back qualifies as 3 seats, not 4, no exceptions.

Also given the increasing number of "Enviro-Green" drivers, we again have "Enviro-Green-Racer", but this year added "Enviro-Green-Modified-Racer" as described below.

    Classic Racer
    · Single outboard engine
    · V4 / in-line 3, 4, 6 cylinders
    · No interior requirements

    Vintage V-6 Lake Racer
    · Single STOCK outboard engine
    · OMC 2.4 / 2.6 or Merc 2.0 / 2.4
    · Minimum 4 seats
    · FULLY upholstered interior

    Vintage V6 Modified Lake Racer
    · Single outboard engine
    · OMC 2.4 / 2.6 or Merc 2.0 / 2.4
    · No seating requirement
    · No upholstery requirement

    Lake Racer
    · Single STOCK outboard engine
    · Minimum 4 seats
    · Fully upholstered interior

    Modified Lake Racer
    · Single MODIFIED outboard engine
    · Minimum 2 seats
    · No upholstery requirement

    Jet Boat Racer
    · Any water jet propulsion (no PWC’s)

    Pro Racer
    · Single outboard engine
    · Any single seat boat
    · No upholstery requirement

    Enviro “Green” Racer
    · Single STOCK outboard engine
    · E-Tec / Opti-Max / V-Max
    · Minimum 4 seats
    · Fully upholstered interior

    Enviro “Green” Modified Racer
    · Single MODIFIED outboard engine
    · E-Tec / Opti-Max / V-Max
    · No seating requirement
    · No upholstery requirement

    Unlimited Racer
    · Anything goes (power enhanced) / Multiple engines / Nitrous / Blower / Turbocharger

    Fun Class Racer
    · No kill switch or helmet required. Covers PWC’s, Woodies, vintage boats (over 25 years old), anything that doesn’t fit in another class.
No engines over 140 H.P. / If you win a trophy in the Fun Class, you cannot win another trophy in another class.

Finally, I need to announce that we have made the decision that as of this year, we are only awarding trophies, but no longer any prize money. The Shootout is completely volunteer driven and operated, with no one getting paid and we still struggle trying to keep up with increased costs. This year, with the addition of the Veteran's as our primary fundraising purpose, we think it is time to step up & do as much as possible financially for an esteemed, national organization (AmVets) that helps so many Vets in so many ways. Freedom isn't free and we need to reward our heroes in the form of Vets by giving something back for their profound sacrifices. We hope & trust you will understand & support this decision.

All for now. Everything is shaping up for our best ever event. We are particularly pleased to hear boats are coming from as far away as Florida, North Dakota and Texas. Our aim is to reward you with one of the best performance boating experiences you will ever participate in. If anyone has any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me personally, especially those coming from such distances. See all of you soon & thank you for your support!

    Jim,

Thanks very much for keeping this top notch event going. We really appreciate the fact that you listen to the racers concerns and make changes as the needs arise. Thank you for making the listed changes. This is what makes this event so great and getting better every year. To me, it is hands down the best event of its kind in the country.

As far as not giving any prize money, doesn't bother me one bit. Many of us donated it back anyways in the past, and it is great to provide money for the Vets because they do so much for all of us. Plus, I know THEY will appreciate it. We are grateful for all that you guys do to keep such a great event continue year after year.

See you in a few weeks.

Hey thanks to you & all the folks that have helped make this successful! Without all of you making the effort to journey to this little corner of the planet would mean the end of this event. It is difficult to rally the troops, but we seem to have gotten the job done this far & hopefully we can keep it up. We will try! Again, thanks for the feedback & look forward to seeing everyone soon.
