    Hydrostream drain plug type

I'm finishing up my Vector and was getting ready to install the drain plug tube and I got to thinking if I should use a drain tube and a expansion type plug or a use a garboard type plug? What are y'all using on your Hydrostreams?

The way I have looked at it is if the boat is going to stay in the water for any length of time I like the garboard type. If she's a trailer queen then the expansion type is a lot easyer to remove (no tools). JMO Gary

Is it cored at the drain plug area with a wood block? If yes, then use a peened tube sealed with 5200 caulk. If solid glass then you could use a normal snap or twist type plug. (That's the set up I have). Or u could use the garboard type if you want.

I was just worried about the expansion type plug coming out at high speed . It is a standard wood and glass setup, I think the garboard type may lead to water intrusion in the wood. Now that I think about it, my Varmint never had any problems with a rubber plug. Thanks

My Varmint has never had any problems with the expansion plug either. I use the screw type, never the snap type. As long as I crank it in real tight I never have any water in the bilge unless the kids have been swimming!
