2002 Mercury Pro X 225 outboard

I have a freshly rebuilt Mercury 225 Pro X 2002 year model outboard/torque master gearcase that has ZERO hours on the rebuild. Motor has been completely rebuilt by Hoffman Marine in Rossville , Tn. Had a new computer, complete new wiring harness, new alternator, new pistons, rings, all bearings, gear case had all new seals installed. I spent $4700 for everything. Motor is like new with warranty. The motor was built back stock. Cowling is also in great shape no major scratches anywhere. Lower unit is excellent. I want to go with a 225 Optimax outboard instead as this motor really isn't what I need on my 21 foot Ranger bass boat. This engine came on the boat 3 years ago. I had it rebuilt after one cylinder went low on compression. I'd like to look at selling for $6600 or a trade on a solid 225 Mercury Optimax. You can call me at 662 538 1339 or text. Ask for Glynn

Where are you located? What's the difference between this motor and a Promax?

Both engines are standard efi. The 225x has the down draft intake with a single throttle shutter like the opti, also has an alternator like the opti but doesn't have the air compressor. The 225 promax has the traditional ignition system (stator, trigger, switchbox,ect.) The 225x has the new style ignition(crank position sensor, new style ecm, and cdm's). The promax has head gaskets and the x has o-ring heads.

Are you selling a 2002 2.5 litre 225X EFI? Post a picture please, the X motor is tough to find. thx

Greag,.... Give me a call Sat. sometime if you're really interested sir. Yes this is a 225X 2002 model. Motor is perfect with complete rebuild. I have receipt for the $4700 I spent on it 2 weeks ago. I just want to go with an optimax motor on my Ranger. My number is 662 538 1339.
