I had a Spectre 30 several years ago - ran it with both 300 Promax's and 300XS's - the "standard" prop at the time was a Merc Cleaver 15 X 32 three blade. It ran 95-99 mph with either set of motors.

    I would call Dave DeWald. I now have a 28 Skater w/ twin 300X's. I tried DeWald 14 3/4 X 34 four blade's and could only spin them 6200 RPM's, so I just exchanged them for 32's.

    Good luck.

I agree with Mike 32s from Dave and ask him about the 5 blade thru hubs. I ran a pair with Dan on the DW 28 and they were unreal-That boat is lighter and has the big tunnel though. Gave the boat great transom lift so you would need to keep the 30 light for them to work but once it was packing air they might be your ticket to happiness.

    good starting point for cheap
    as 30 4 blade will load motors like a 32 3 blade

I had two different gear cases that looked like they had been to a saw mill from Throttle Up propellers. They might have fixed the casting issues since (that was almost 10 years ago).

Yeah they got all the bugs worked out. They actually run very similar to my Dewalds. That was Lee's sponsor and main choice of props all these years. They are no longer making them.

Personally for the summer I would run 5 blade 29P dewalds. I have a set of round ear thru-hubs mint I would sell for $2500.00. Dave normally gets $3500.00 a set.
I like the 29P cleavers for the ocean. They are dewalds 5 blade thru hub also.
My motors turn right at 7000rpm. They run at 5% slip. He builds some of the best O/B props for the money.

Asking this question to a group of guys, is like asking them the type of women they like. Before anyone should ever give out prop information, I like to know, Make of boat, length of boat, motors on boat, is it a standard lay up or a light weight, pleasure or race boat, motor info. stock or mod, any set back on motors, full interior, what kind of water do you plan to use it in, do you boat alone or with passengers, are you looking for top end or an all around good performer, salt or fresh water, are you a guy who wants the motors as high as you can get them or are you one that wants to be on the conservative side for handling puposes, etc, etc. A lot of the 30' Spectre's had sand bags or buck shot in the nose to help with the porpoise. You will want to know if yours is one of them. I ask lots of questions. I even had props for turning the motors in and a different set for turning them out. Get all that info. and then get a hold of the pros and go from there. Mercury does not have much other than the 3 bladed cleaver right now for you unless, you want to drop $5k each on a CNC prop, which is untested on the 300's. We are doing the first 28 Skater with a set here soon. Some guys have run Bravo's on the Spectre's. I am not a fan of it and can not say I have tried it, so that would be a question for someone with more knowledge. I would be calling David Dewald and the guys at Hering. I also have had good luck with Todd and Hydromotive on props for Spectre's, so don't count him out. The rest of the guys I do not know or have not used. You might want to look at some used props or get some on a loan. I have some here I would loan to you to try, but if you damage them you would own them. Sorry for the book. Todd
