Should I avoid buying a 2001 Mercury 200xs?
Looking at buying a 2001 200xs but want to make sure it will be a good motor for general use as well as high speed runs. It has 180 hours on it, how many hours should I expect to get before a rebuild? Any common issues? Thanks in advance.

Love mine. Couldn't tell you how many hours but have heard of them in the thousands.

your better off with a 2004 and newer, but a 2001 with 100 hours should be past the break down period. i have 200 hrs on a 2004 and it runs like new. with the o-ring heads it should be a long lasting engine. do check the LU very carefully. wish it was closer to Wa i need one. would prefer a 2.5xs [225 hp].
