Randy what diameter were the props. That 4 blade dewald does not look any of his cleavers I have or have run. Maybe the rounded tips?
From what I have seen and been involved with other 400r cats the 5 blade props by far work better for some reason. Also you should take to Dave. He putting the finishing touches on some 32" 5 blade over the hub cleaves like the mercury version they sell for 10k. Also has a wide range of thru-hub 5 blade cleavers also.

I'm going to run the Max5's first to see what pitch I'm gonna need. They are 34x15. I should get them Wednesday.

We need to try this bad boy and see if it will turn it. I ran it on my STV and took it up to 5800 at 112 mph. Its a big dude, I didn't stay in it any higher as I was by myself and never saw another boat on the river but it handled really well. Ron, the 34 that I loaned him is one that we rounded the tips on as a little experiment. The fastest that I have seen with it was 126 and I just didn't care to hold into it any longer in that little boat.

a Nice Bravo 1 34-36 pitch would go good on there as well as a nice big 15 1/4" diameter.

I got my 34"x15" Mercury Max5 prop today. I just got back from the lake. It ran 109 at 6800 rpm on a digital GPS and 108 on my Livorsi GPS speedometer. I've noticed for years that the Livorsi speedos read 1 - 1.5 mph slower than every digital GPS I ever tested against. I think the boat has another mile an hour or 2 with this prop if I get a longer lake. I didn't have enough time to play with the trim. I'm still running 32 lbs of water pressure too, so the motor can come up. I'm also going to try a Mercury CNC 5 blade cleaver. Everyone who has tried one picked up 5-7 mph over the Max5. Problem is, they cost $5000 each!! Here's a couple pics. Also one that shows how well the boat matches my truck.

They run 106 with an XS (Randy has them set up at 6200) and has done lots of them since 06'. He had Dave build him a couple that were a touch less weight a few years back and one of them ran 108. I think that you could still get a few more with an X set up perfect. The 400 does accelerate better and Randy ran it in rough water that didn't seem to slow it down like it does with the 300. These hulls have a pod that shelters that big case and Randy is running it up high as well to get this result.

The last couple of years the 21s I have only been running 99 to 100 mph with the 300xs. I don't know if it is the mercury motors or what . None have run over 100

How many of them have we had running 106 in the past (10 to 15?) and the two lighter ones were faster yet but I don't remember how long ago that was that you ordered them. Your prop vendor went through some changes too as I remember hearing.

I raised the motor a bit on the 21 Liberator with the 400R today. Had it up to 111 mph at 6900 rpm. The pic of the motor is at the trim level I ran at. You can see I ran almost negative trim at that speed. I was told that the new Mercury CNC prop ($5000) would give me another 5-7 mph over the Mercury Max5 34" prop I'm running now.
