Looking for info on a mercury outboard

I recently got a 1989 rapid craft hurricane with a 1989 mercury 135 hp outboard.. The serial number is 0G030037 when i look up that number says its a 94 150 hp.. Could the outboard cover been changed to hide the 150 hp due to its size motor on the boat..

Yes that is very possible. But your powerhead might be 135 on a 150 clamp.

The serial number on the clamp bracket is for an unmolested motor. Look on the rear top of the block for a round silver freeze plug looking part with a number on it. Post that number and someone here can tell If your powerhead has been changed. Not uncommon. Mike

No problem, and all you have to do is change the 150 to a 135.
