That's cool. Looks like a Bosch Ve pump that came on all Cummins in dodges till 93. It's not fixed timing so they are also known to get great mileage in the trucks. A big injectors fuel pin and a timing bump will more then double the power to the ground oh and they are bullet proof.

That is innovative for sure. The used one is asking $15k, I doubt anyone really knows what it is.

haven't researched it in a few yrs since looking for power for a 30' island hopper, but it should not be hard to find, just the engine was what I was referring to, straight inboard, so tranny is all I was referring to as a package. I know they used arnison drives on a 30+' Fountian and it did over 80

well this is a starting point, this one is not a yanmar but delivers an extra 1000 hp, for 10 grand less
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/1725545...450&rmvSB=true
not sure of this guys price but these are an exta 40 hp, so now Joe you'll only need another 73, did not print, going to try again, 2 440 yanmars
having trouble connecting, but the site is Boatdiesel.comLast edited by mr fun; 03-28-2017 at 09:03 PM.

Keith,
I think that you are missing the point. This is a complete bolt on package that has a buoyancy weight of less then a large outboard. The box that it would take to float that big ass engine would be the same size as my hull LOL. Bill is a really smart guy and has been working on building these for 20 years now. I don't think that there is any need to try and reinvent his wheel when you can just buy it and bolt it on-If I needed more power, he is offering 500 horsepower LS create motors in the same basic box. This is not intended to be a performance boat, just something to run the salt with having a closed cooling system and stainless hardware. I figure that it will last at least what a couple of 250XS motors will for the same cost, the travel range will incredible for an 18 foot boat, and its not something that you see everyday.

Joe, please don't miss understand me. I cerntally understand the use you are applying, my "oh my goodness" point was the 24k price tag. HATS OFF TO YOUR APPLICATION !!! that kind of coin is simply not in my realm of ability. when I was shopping for a single diesel to power my project I shopped around and found a lot of 6 cylinder units that made a lot of power for less than half of that. I completely understand your effort is a completely different animal. no disrespect intended.

How are you comparing a new self contained drive that will bolt to a 18ft boat. To a 1980s Detroit dinosaur? If you put it in the whaler it might float it atleast enough to keep the valve covers dry but it would leak gallons of oil while your kids are swimming at the sandbar. Name it the Boston Valdez.
Diesel, arneson and $25k shouldn't be mentioned on the same thread nevermind in the same sentence.
