oil is not a problem unless your going to be using it at minus 20c and freezing your nuts off. .
if using in normal weather then ISO32 is perfect for the steering, its exactly what I use . was told this is one of the safest options for hydraulic steering.

this below is what I was told to use by a hydraulics expert, plus a few others at different hydraulics shops, its what is used at Heathrow airport for the
pulling tugs and stairlifts etc plus most of their hydraulic equipment.
he did say its not to be used for the aircraft , due to the cold temp up at 35,000 ft etc.

so I use this and have had nice results, plus he gave me 4 litres of it for free when I got some new seals from him .!!!

SeaStar for 60mph and below, SeaStar Pro for over 60 mph. It's great to have no tq and to be able to let go of the wheel at any speed and not have the boat dart off course.

I've had BayStar for about 13 years. LOVE IT. BUT, it's on a 55 MPH boat with a 115 InLine. On a V6 or over 60MPH, SeaStar ONLY. And I can't ever see going back to mechanical steering.

if its 13 years old you have the old baystar. proper stuff, not the newer Chinese crap. old baystar is a lot better and has the good seals.

I just found the Seastar pro on sale but I don't have my boat with me to measure for the hoses. Does anyone know the correct length for a side steer Hydrostream Vector?

Hopefully 14' hoses will work, that's all they had left in stock so that's what I ordered.

I think that's correct. If not you can always hide the extra. I don't believe it's to short. I measured my Vector cables a while back but don't recall the exact length.
Those Kevlar reinforced hoses ain't cheap.

I think they're going to work. I just couldn't pass up the deal , I had a one day only 20% off coupon from Overtons and the kit was already on sale for 1099.00

cant go wrong with the s.star pro system,u-flex makes a nice unit as well.i just replaced seals and wipers in two separate s.star rams, cost me $28 at local hyd. shop.if you buy the same seal kit from teleflex, its around twice as much for one kit!the fellow at the hyd. shop put them in the caps too!you can put togetehr a good system for $500-$700 depending on timing, found a supplier with a bulk lot of 18ft kevlar 1500psi hoses for 150.00 shipped.id replace the seals and wipers in ANY ram bought used.
