Bolt on cav plate and/or bottom plate on jack plate for an STV Euro

Wondering if anyone has had any experience with a bolt on cavitation plate and/or plate that bolts up to the bottom of a jackplate to redirect the water flow on an STV euro...will be racing and mainly lake cruising...wondering if it's worth it or not... thanks

If you look on the Allison Boats website they have info on the "planning foil" and the "skid planer": http://www.allisonboats.com/content/specials/

If you care about holeshot you will need them both.

Buddy has a euro with a little more hp than me and at same weight i put 2ish boats on him out of the hole religiously he has neighter on his euro and I have both on my bullet.

We are running same gear and prop combination too

I have a plate on my GS bolted to the bottom of the jack plate that I fabbed up my self. Helped hole shot and keeps boat on plane at slower speed than without. And once it's up on the pad it's not even touching the water, so it effects nothing after that. Works for me.

It would be interesting to see what happens at the 60-70 mph bounce with the plate.

pro's both are good for holeshot, none of them will work when your going fast (unless your sinking). great for going slow and still seeing over the bow.

con's of the foil is no matter who makes them they are an ugly thing on the motor, that is the only downside to one I have found using them for about 30 years..

the plate under the jack plate again no cons that I know off, but I have not used one of them "yet".

I am going to make one similar to an Allison drag plate when I find some material, but even the cheapo doel-fins do actually work pretty good.
in the uk the doel-fin is the most popular foil youl find on a boat, because we only have a couple to choose from and with the plastic ones the doe-fin is the better one.

I don't think anything would change much above 20 or 25 mph.

you 100% need a cav plate for sure, the one under the jackplate wont hurt anything and could be an asset
