    dang it

My new neighbors have a dog. Mine doesn't get along with it. My mutt also has high fight drives. They got into it fight wise. I pulled mine off with my right hand on his collar. I know better. Mine spun around and bit my left fore arm really good. Hence not posting. type is a pain one handed. I should have taken pictures. Several staples.

That sucks, I had a cat do that to me once. Brought a dog into the house and I picked up the cat to put her in another room and she went off on me. Took a hard bite to my hand, it blew up like a balloon............

Its a pain. I know better then to grab a dog barking or being aggressive from behind. 99.9% of the time they'll assert dominance.

Now the fun part. Our stupid government wants every person to have a family doctor. So pretty much every private practice is booked solid with a waiting list. The wait list is just to become a patient at the clinic. We do have walk in clinics. They are first come first serve. But since they are sort of like hospital emergency, in that anyone with anything minor can walk in anytime. Most are busy. To get a follow up appointment at a clinic for stich/staple removal next week. I started going yesterday to the clinics.

Clinics are so busy. I went to one that opens at 5pm till 10pm. I arrived an hour early. Had sushi at the restaurant right next door. Paid my sushi bill at exactly 5:04 pm. Went in the clinic and already 10/15 people sitting waiting and was third in line to check in with nurse staff. The wait to see the doctor was maybe by 8:15pm that night. Problem they also have quotas on how many patients and how much they can bill our government insurance per day. Go over either quota and they close the clinic early. The problem is also to get an actual doctor, you need to submit a medical questionnaire and a committee decides if that doctor can take you as a full time patient.

Walmart does have a walk in clinic: http://vivacare.ca/abbotsford.html

What they don't say on the website. To get a referral, prescription, etc. online or an appointment. You need to see their doctors first and become an "official" patient!

Its total socialism. Even Cuba is faster. So my day is going to be at Walmart. Waiting to see a doctor. So he can evaluate my next appointment needs. I.e.: so my staple/stich removal doesn't go over their quota next week!

Here is a list of the Walmart walk in clinics. Note they open at 9am here. Its 9:04 and some clinics are already no longer taking walk ins today or are closed because they are over their patient/bill quota's:

I agree that the American system needed updating. Obamacare is not the solution. As originally when Canada passed the health act is was similar to Obamacare. I.e.: mandatory private insurance. By the 1970's all the private insurance companies, bankrupt or getting out of the insurance business in Canada. So many insurance companies pulled out of Canada. British Columbia needed to create a government insurance agency for vehicle insurance in 1970.

Despite being unfair. I'm seriously thinking of booking an appointment in the USA and paying for the doctors visit myself. VS waiting for hours two or three days just to get an appointment!

Only took two days to see a doctor using walk in first come first serve clinics. The people in front of me had a six month old baby. They've been on a wait list for a pediatrician since the wife became pregnant. They thought they could just call a pediatrician and get an appointment that week and start seeing them.

Getting that bad in the big cities here. I got food poisoning in November, call my doc: 3 week wait. I'd be dead long before my doc would see me. Of course you go to a clinic or ER and you have to pay double the deductible so what's the point of having a PCP? System is screwed since Obimbo care kicked it...... Like you said doc's offices filled up with paper cuts of people who never had insurance before and the people who really need to see the doc are screwed. $8K a year fr insurance and you still have to pay $50 to see a doc.

Hint, hint.... If all the people that use socialized health care get frustrated and go w/o treatment and either die or just go away and suffer, there is no health care problem. So in reality they are working very hard on the problem, and we see the results......

I've been on Medicare for 10 years. Part B, Supplement and Part D cost me over $350 a month. But I have used it. At least one NECESSARY surgery a year and no co-pay. And I can generally get in to my primary or a specialist within a week. I know I'm VERY lucky.

CAT bites are deadly. Cat scratch fever, not the song, is a major, systemic infection caused by bites, not scratches. About 40% of cats are carriers. My Gray Guy was. Pattie ended in the hospital for a week from a bite on her arm. She said "Of course we keep him. He didn't mean it." He got me a couple of times, my fault. Clean the wound and treat with Bactroban for a week. If you get bit by a cat, treat it as serious. Most of the time, it's your fault. They mostly are NOT vicious. And our Queen Nefertiti hasn't bit either one of us in over 15 years. Gray Guy just had incredibly sharp teeth. A gentle touch could break the skin, even when he was 14 years old. So be careful about bites.

Yeah, when my cat bit me, the doc at the clinic was pissed I waited a couple days to get it looked at. Man did that start hurting after the second day.

About the only thing good about a dogs bite. They have pretty clean mouths, even over humans.

Another problem with our system. If you have the Canadian equal to a US green card. You can sponsor parents and grand parents as permanent visitors. When they started the program the sponsor had to sign a declaration of support. The sponsor even had to pay for healthcare, etc. Now its only 3 years for the most part. So we have a large aged immigrant population now. A hospital or family doctor can make them pay as uninsured residents. But the walk in clinics can't. On one hand its nice that an immigrant can bring over their retired parent or parents and even grand parents, etc. The problem is we know have a large immigrant visitor class that is using our social safety net. Even getting a social security old age pension.

Its such a huge problem, I.e.: people that are not entitled to our health insurance getting it. That now my health insurance number is tied with my drivers license. In the last few years both my parents have been referred to specialists. Each took almost a year to see the specialist.

Yes, the Democrats want the same system. We tried a similar deal like Obamacare. It nearly bankrupted private insurance and became so costly nobody could afford to use the insurance.

Another big problem we have high costs of living here. As we import almost everything. Second thing most don't realize, pretty much all our commodities are traded on American mercantile exchanges, Chicago and NY! So pretty much all commodities are in US dollars, oil to wheat, poultry, meats, beef and pork, milk, etc. Hence a gallon of Chocolate milk here is $9 bucks. Then we add federal and provincial sales tax on most goods and services.

The feds are changing the way they tax capital gains. They say under the current system it costs them $800 million per year, money currently in "millionaires" pockets. These moron liberals obviously haven't checked the MLS these days:

    https://www.rew.ca/properties/search...Grove%2C+Delta

    https://www.rew.ca/properties/search...Delta%2C+Delta

Mostly the above is/was blue collar neighborhoods. Well a millionaire is pretty easy to achieve. When normal houses are at almost a million dollars. Add in increasing property tax is making it near impossible to own a house here unless you make several hundred grand per year. A new F350 here is now over $100k!

Basically our socialism has made even being a millionaire, at poverty level. Now rich and poor are screwed by the system!

Poncho - Look on amazon for a staple removal tool and take them out yourself . They sell for just a few dollars and up . Removing them is easier than trimming your fingernails and it saves a ton of aggravation . If you're not sure how this works , there are tutorials that explain it in depth on the internet .

Good to hear you're OK Poncho. Hope your dog and the other one learn to get along.

Never heard of people having such problems from cat bites. I know about cat scratch just never heard it giving anyone that bad of a time. Guess it depends on the person and how much of the bacteria you get. Kinda like how Lyme disease kicked my butt but most get over it.

Good thing my old cat didn't have it or I would have been dead years ago. That was one biting cat. Almost killed him a few times for biting me. Not sure what was wrong, think he was blind in one eye, cuse ever now and then I'd be letting him out and he'd just turn around and bit the crap out of my foot; still have scars on one of my feet. Got to where I'd wear shoes when I let him outside.
