    J Class records

    Does anyone know what the last kilo records were for the J classes. The fastest I ever saw in one was just shy of 80mph but they got a lot faster than that later on.

    What class are you asking about? J (Junior) - Class ?? The J runabout is 41.020 and the J hydro is 44.3 This is the stock outboard category. Were you referring to the old OPC class??? It's not listed on the APBA website.

    I was referring to the OPC J classes. APBA doesn't seem to keep records of classes which are no longer active.

    Check out the link I added above for the APBA Records that are available on the current website. Would be nice to know the kilo records for these older OPC classes.

    I can't get to my reference books right now, maybe by the weekend. Pretty sure SJ was about 105.

    That record always makes me wonder why would anyone want to put a nosecone on a lower unit proven to run 100+?

    Its easier to sell cool looking stuff than education.

    How about a refresher on class description?

    Production = V and Sport = tunnel?

    Wish I'd kept all my old rule/record books.
    I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

    I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

    I can't remember the min. weight was? The max cubic inch was 100 and the max over bore was .015. I wish still I had my old rule books but that was a while ago. At least I still own the boat.
