Sorry if me BSing your thread, but DAMN, ya bring old mems! On that Allison, was raced a friend with a 70 Merc against the Rude Stingers. He torched the motor, gave up and went a 19 foot Kitson Tunnel, IL6. I grabbed it, made a two seater fun boat with a 50 Merc. STILL ran a solid 50mph WOT! If still had it? Be a IL6 on FOR SURE. The Switzer hulls, as a Ally are SO STABLE AT SPEED! Toss on what HP ya want, it will handle it! Fun times FOR SURE! BUT? Some the stuff you guys are coming up with are "never gonna work" well, thats a 40 year ago thought, and now? Ya'all aint NORMAL ya know, and thats OK with me. I've met normal people...(worst 2 minutes my life"

Wow,what a day! Went in early today to get the second transom plate glassed in,that went well.Had it fitted and glassed in by 10AM. Thought after forty years it's time for some new carpet.Pulled the seats, and unstapeled the carpet, started walking around checking out the floor. It seemed great! Right up till I stepped where the front seat was "CRACK" well most of you that have been boating a few years know that sound.Well by 4.30 what I'm replacing is out and cleaned up,ready for a refit.Truth is there was only a small section that was bad,but I took out most of the floor.Ive gotta say this thing is built to the hilt! The Switzer boys knew how to lay glass!Hand layed don't see any balsa. There is what looks like two six foot long plywood planks buried in the rear floor,I can see them through the glass and they look new!Tomorrow should get the last transom plate in,and the floor plug fit.All this boat crapp is cutting in to my maple syrup season.

DAMN, 90! best me XS was a solid 73. VERY little saw the wheel as "what chine walk"? ON THE PAD! And as still can't find reason the"football cut out transom" as never asked Bobby. Brother Dave was the hull designer then "still and both still at it too last heard" But bet as the days jacking up the motor surface prop? Probably for low pressure zone to drag water up the motor intakes cooling. Then next was the LWPU ..solved. Ya been to Toms (Illinois river) Switzer Regatta? He's on here. Cool old stuff shows up. Let me find a link..

Never mind ya there. Just read the thread. Ya been there. Tom and April are solid people, and his V8 Gl 21? BEAST! Plus they toss a DAMN GOOD PARTY, and the chicken is famous! Also tosses a New Years Eve Party, just show up, rest on them. Simple great people, but ya know that....(finish the Swit up and drag it out there as few years back, he wanted to stop it and soon found out the"word is out" Musta been the Chicken, the people, the OLD boats STILL like better than new! Was Bobby and Carol there? Talk with them?
Pic "fuzzy" when older bro was 15, Baby Switzer 20H Merc. Dad said "let the (5 years old then) kid drive it. WOOF! Never looked back.."life on the water"!

Ya know on those seat bases, from what I remember I had to replace one (drivers) base as was breaking loose (damn Fox Lake is ROUGH W/E's!). But as they sit right on the floor, seems when boat got wet, caught in the rain etc, it was the last thing to dry out as no air getting in there. I had a bright idea to put a couple springs (can't remember, bike clutch or valve) under the rear with a couple plates floor/base. Let air in AND took some the shock up yer butt hitting wakes. Raised seat a bit, but ya get used to it. Or raise the hinge up for level. Or cut the spring length to your liking. Anything would help. I did the same on my flat bottom (OUCH ANY WAVE!). Its bolted down 4 spots, springs under all. Kinda weird at first, but sure helps the old back! Just a thought!

The seats sit a little low for my liking, and there is no room for a foot throttle.Going to fix both issues while I'm at it.Im starting to get a little amped up,Gotta see if this old horse can see triple didgits.I think with some setup the hull is more than capable.
