    Optimax vs Promax vs 260/280

Re-powering my boat this year and looking to buy a new motor. Currently running an older carb 225.... I saw there were several other older threads about the topic. I have an older light weight 20.5 ft eliminator. Wondering about a 250 pro xs in comparison to a 300 promax or a 260/280 etc... I am looking for performance and speed of course however, I am more wanting a reliable turn key easy to start motor that wont need constant maintenance. Thoughts ????
    Cheers,

    Trevor

Also I am having the transom reinforced and ordered 6" Atlas Jack Plate. The current mounting blocks are about a 5.5" setback so it should be close to current.

I have owned nearly every 2 stroke Merc it seems and the best all around motor so far has been the 2.5 200xs. Outstanding performance and dependability not to mention economy you almost can't believe.
