Compression on late 80's model johnson gt 200

Is 70lbs across the board to low on compression for this motor? Heard factory was around 90.

Is it a 3 liter.with idle relief holes? Cranking cold with the throttle closed and cyl dry will mite bring a 70 reading.
    What mota is it?

    Or is it a 1986 or 87 2.7 L ? Then it should be 115 psi

Did you try decarbing the motor that might bring it up. It seems a bit low did the motor sit for some time?

I want to say that my 89 was 110-115 right after I finished the rebuild. If it really is 70 it won't run worth a crap. I would probably pull the heads and inspect the cylinders and see how much carbon is in there.
