    What is this Nose Cone?

I got this nose cone, looks as if you need to weld it on. I heard it might be from Land and Sea possibly.
Has anyone ever seen this thing back in the day?
Is it for Mercury Inline 6, V6 or maybe OMC.
What era or type of boat would it have gone on.
It doesn't have a top half like modern nose cones so is it useless in modern terms
Indentations for guides for low water pick up.
Looks to me like it might be how you would make/copy an old speed master out of your lower unit on a budget.
    Brand New, never used.
If I invented it, I'd call it a Bullet.
    All help appreciated.

Yes pics. They came in sideways again. Thought that was fixed. Had to delete them all and make them bigger on my computer. Hope someone knows this bullet.

This is a land and sea ( springfield bullet ) low water pickup nosecone. You used the speedometer hole in the lower unit. You had to drill it out to 5/8", thread it and plug it. Then run hose and fittings like all.

I have one of those on one of my XS gearcases now. I don't remember when I installed it but I would guess about 1980. After I installed it I cut the channels that are in front of the gearcase lower water pickup holes into the cone and ran them forward. My water pressure was better and didn't drop as much when I hit the brakes going into a corner. Was that the cone that was on Ebay? I email that guy and told him it was for a inline and not a V6 but he never change the auction.

Yes, it was the one from Ebay. I was thinking of using it on my old inline racer. Just for nostalgic reasons. I was just guessing ti couldn't be for a V6 being it don't have a top half leading edge.

It can be used on any small or large carrier lower unit and make it like the XS LOWER unit. You need to find one of the older carrier, or make your on for the rear bearing carrier surface to be wide enough to cut like the XS groove only wider & deeper. Then fill in the stock side intakes with epoxy.after that has set for 48 hours use long 3/8-7/6 ,12" Drill bit and drill holes where they line up with carrier groove. blend outside with epoxy.(weld the factory holes and cone first) makes a one of a kind lower. I did not give all info because all are not the same.

What, I thought I had the last one in existence. It makes a good paperweight for now.

Sorry, But that's not the only one of those cones. I picked up a xtra off Ebay a few years ago. Also have a NOS 4 hole XS gearcase housing and 2 NOS carriers settin on a shelf. You never know when your gonna bust somethin on these old inlines. Still tryin to bust one of my super speedmasters.
