    poppet bypass

im interested in knowing more about the poppet bypass, ive been searching before I make a post but have not had much luck finding any detail on how to bypass and why to bypass, is there a good thread with the steps to do this mod?

You'll not find a thread on it because the poppet should never be bypassed. It is an essential component to the cooling system.

You need to post what motor you have and if you have a 1 piece or 2 piece adapter between the motor and midsection. Telling us what boat you have isn't necessary but we all like to know.
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

boat is a 17' lake and bay
engine is a 200hp carb I think 1997, im not sure if 2.0 2.4 or 2.5 (how can I tell?)
the poppet has a 2 piece housing, and im in the process of sending my gearcase to bobs, and I hear that the poppet doesn't like the higher water pressure associated with the nose cone low water pickup. if that setup is going to run fine, then im happy to leave it alone

No idea where this nonsense gets started, add the cone and run it. You'll be fine. There are several thousand other boats running around with nosecones/Sporties and working poppets.

97 200 is a 2.5, or "should be", unless the power head has been changed.

Serial number or a picture would help ID what you have.
