Curious weight 2.4, compared 330 pound IL6 made for. Me? I would do like said (if solid wood back there) a plate to spread the stress. Then do 2 turnbuckles/SS cable transom to front wet well, then reinforce that. Lot easier. But hard to say as not seen it. "SAVE THE BEAST" My best boat after a 13 foot Ally..(wish still had both)!

There is a factory brochure from the 70s that had two inlines on the same hull. This one was not sealed correctly by the op,and over the last forty years the seepage just took its toll.I can guarantee it will be as good or better than when new. With the next PH it's going to need to be

Cracks me up some the (stupid, not us) people that need a "Transom saver" towing, on a simple fishing boat, low HP. Simple tilt it up, and bounce on down the road. ANY motor decent HP assend nailed WOT, will pick up a 2000 pound boat skyward and thats a LOT more weight than simple bouncing around back there towing over some bumps.

Decals are reversed, formula 2.4 and Max need to swap ends to be correct. The rub strip as shipped new is on the bottom edge of the cowl, not on the pan.You cannot see it when the top is in place.I may have a pic that would show it.

That 6 hole piece middle is the ticket! Right under the "bunny hutch", but no bunny so hard to spot.
