Worthwhile option for some modifications?

Hey guys, new to this site, I have a 1986, mercury, 60 hp three cylinder, 2 carbureted engine and I may want to make some modifications to it, if that is a worth while engine to spend time on, it runs OK but it was free so I am interested in playing around with it.
If that motor is a good platform to modify, curious what would be the first places to start on the modifications?, Thanks

Not so much boring as out of the mainstream. Lotsa people mod V6's, but there is not much discussion of smaller motors. What kind of boat is it on and how fast now?

Google 3cly outlaw, there is a whole group that mods those and runs them on the old 15' ally's and mini stv's that would be a wealth of knowledge for your type motor.
